The Japan Machine Tool Builders' Association (JMTBA) is a nonprofit trade association of metal cutting machine tool
builders. It was established in 1951 and reorganized to its present status in 1978 with an eye to ensuring the overall growth
of the nation's machine tool industry and contributing to the sound development of the Japanese economy.
In pursuit of its goals, the association undertakes wideranging projects through its standing committees as well as other
ad hoc groups including extraordinary committees, panels, and study groups.
JMTBA's activities include:
- Surveys regarding the production, distribution and export/import of machine tools.
- Surveys regarding management, taxation systems and financing systems related to the machine tool industry.
- Co-sponsorship of the Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF).
- Participation in international machine tool trade shows and similar events.
- Promotion of international cooperation between machine tool industries.
- Promotion of international exchanges related to ma chine tools through the dispatch and invitation of specialists and the exchange of data, written materials, etc.
- Basic and applied research on machine tool production engineering.
- Research on safety assurance and public hazard prevention related machine tools.
- Development and dissemination of specifications and standards for machine tools.
- Public relations and the publication of relevant materials.ls.
