The Institute for Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) at Leibniz Universität Hannover deals with all aspects of machining production technology: from the machining process to machine development to production planning and organisation. We combine experimental, theoretical and simulation-based methods. With around 80 scientific employees, we cover the entire spectrum from basic research through practical research and development to service and consulting.
Together with six other institutes, IFW forms the Production Technology Centre of Leibniz Universität Hannover. Our industrial partners also benefit from the close integration of the institutes.
In addition to research, the training of students is our central task. IFW's range of courses covers all areas in which we are also active in research: Manufacturing processes, machines and controls, production systems and the high-performance production of CFRP.
